Big Sandy, MT
About:
Big Sandy Medical Center (BSMC) has grown from its 1965 beginnings as a small nine-bed hospital and clinic—funded and built through community effort—into a modern Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic offering comprehensive primary, emergency, and specialized care. Over the decades, the facility has adapted to changing medical needs and regulations, expanding services with a nursing home in 1985, major code-compliance remodels in 1997, operational changes in 2019, updated safety and infection-control systems in 2021, and the addition of a Wellness Center in 2022. Ongoing improvements, including a new clinic building, CT machinery, ADA-compliant updates, and expanded kitchen space, reflect its commitment to advancing healthcare for the region. Throughout its history, community support—especially from the Big Sandy Medical Guild, the Big Sandy Medical Foundation, and dedicated volunteers—has been essential in sustaining and growing BSMC into the full-service medical resource it is today.
